Job summary

Outrider is seeking an Autonomous Vehicle Safety Driver (CDL) for a 6-month assignment in Colorado. The role involves hands-on operation of self-driving trucks, safety inspections, and evaluating performance in manual, partial, or full automation modes.

You will monitor the vehicle, intervene when necessary, and work with engineering and operations teams to ensure safety and reliability while supporting a training period at our Brighton, CO headquarters.

Qualifications

• Current Class A CDL valid in Colorado and in any other state of the United States, as requested.
• 3 years of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer driving experience.
• Safe and proficient backing with a variety of trailer types in dynamic yard environments.
• Clean driving record for the past 5 years.
• Availability for day, night, and/or weekend work; travel up to 20%.
• Unwavering safety focus; ability to propose system improvements.
• Proficiency with desktop software and web applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Sterling references; willing to travel to Brighton, CO for training.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate vehicles, in the cab for 8-10+ hours per day.
• Be a steward of the safety mindset and conduct on-site safety inspections; propose improvements.
• Provide verbal and written test reports on system performance for cross-functional teams.
• Maintain a current Class A CDL valid in the United States; carry at all times.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks and services on autonomous vehicles.
• Assist teams in root-cause analysis of issues found during operation.
• Perform minor repairs under supervision and follow OEM repair instructions.
• Communicate issues and observations to AV Dispatchers and Engineering.
• Comply with safety rules and wear required safety equipment.
• Travel to customer locations up to 20% for field work.
