Pitzer College, part of The Claremont Colleges, seeks a Temporary Associate Director to support study abroad programs in Claremont, CA. The role focuses on advising, outreach, and program enhancement while covering two SAIP staff absences.

Position Title: Associate Director (Temporary) Department: Study Abroad & International Programs Supervisor: Senior Director of Study Abroad & International Programs
Reporting to the Senior Director of Study Abroad & International Programs, the Associate Director in the Office of Study Abroad and International Programs (SAIP Office) will provide office-wide services and functions in support of study abroad and international programs, including student advising and outreach, pre-departure orientation, student records management, and financial services. The Associate Director will also move forward projects to enhance Pitzer's direct-run study abroad programs, which offer immersive, cohort-based experiences that integrate language instruction, family stays, an interdisciplinary course focused on the program location, and the opportunity to pursue an independent study and/or community-based learning project. Pitzer College currently operates four semester programs and three summer programs. The Associate Director is expected to have knowledge in best practices for inclusive and student-centered study abroad advising, as well as experience with marketing, outreach, and promotion of programs or services to a student audience. This is a part-time, temporary position with an expected duration of 2-3 months (renewable, depending on needs) to cover while two SAIP staff are on leave.

Education: Master's Degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
Experience: Three to five years of professional work experience in education abroad, with significant advising responsibilities, at a four-year college or university or with a study abroad program provider. Experience working with university staff, students, and faculty, as well as prior experience studying, living, or working abroad, is also required. Applicants must also have proven experience with marketing, outreach, and promotion of programs or services to a student audience.
Preferences: Preference will be given to applicants with five or more years of experience in the international education field and at least two years’ experience in communications, event planning, public relations, or marketing, preferably in a higher education or non-profit organization setting. Experience with student recruitment efforts and with creating, implementing, and evaluating marketing and communications plans is also desirable. Background in graphic design and web content management tools is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility: Although this position will interact with student workers and provide feedback on their work products, they will not serve as direct supervisor.
Work Schedule: This is a part-time, temporary position working up to 24 hours per week.

Compensation Range: $35 to $37 hourly
