Position

On-Call Technicians are sought to work in the Midwest on projects that have not been solidified yet. We are building a list of candidates to be ready when assignments arise. The role may require travel on short notice and fieldwork in archaeological contexts within cultural resources management.

Responsibilities
  • Support fieldwork in archaeological projects, with typical field season anticipated in spring and fall.
  • Travel to assigned project sites within the upper Midwest as needed.
  • Collaborate with project teams to document field observations and meet project requirements.
Qualifications
  • BA in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field.
  • Able to walk at least 8 miles per day over consecutive days.
  • Willing to travel and stay in hotels for several weeks at a time.
Preferred
  • Based in MI or IL, followed by northern IN or northern OH.
  • At least one year of archaeological field experience.
  • Completed an archaeology field school.
Compensation
  • Typical rates range from $25-$28 per hour, based on experience.
  • Fieldwork needs anticipated in spring and fall.
  • Projects are primarily in the upper Midwest.
