Job summary

Layne’s Chicken Fingers in Texas is seeking a Line Cook to join our fun, fast-paced team. You’ll prepare chicken, breading, fryers, toast bread, and grill cheese and bacon for our club sandwiches.

You’ll be part of a culture that values great food and great people while keeping the kitchen clean and moving to serve guests quickly. We look for energetic, reliable teammates who can lift up to 55 lbs, work a flexible schedule, and communicate well with the front and other cooks.

Qualifications

• Be at least 16 years old and able to work a flexible schedule.
• Lift and carry up to 55 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Must communicate effectively with team and front counter.

Responsibilities

• Prepare chicken and bread it with our seasoned coating.
• Fry chicken to achieve consistent texture and doneness.
• Toast bread on the griddle and assemble club sandwiches.
• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and work station.
• Coordinate with front counter and other cooks to manage orders.

THE ROLE:

As a Cook, your main responsibilities will be to prepare our chicken, breading it in our uniquely seasoned breading and frying it to perfection in our state‑of‑the‑art fryers, manning our griddle plate where we toast our authentic Texas toasting bread, and grill our cheese and bacon for our famous club sandwiches. A huge part of who we are and what we are about is our fun-loving, non-corporate environment, so as a Layne's Line Cook you will be part of our culture which ensures everyone has fun while we serve our guests "Soon to be Famous" Chicken Fingers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Communicate with the front cashier and drive‑thru on the number of customers present.
• Communicate with other cooks on food status and speed.
• Assist with prep.
• Ensure the kitchen remains immaculate, cleaning as often as possible.
• Keep up to pace with orders from both the front and drive‑thru.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Be at least 16 years of age.
• Be willing and able to work a flexible schedule.
• Ability to lift and carry 55 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience in a fast-food concept.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
