Job summary

Purdue University Northwest's Dining Services is seeking Part Time Food Service Workers to support the daily operations by preparing, serving, and maintaining food service areas across campus dining locations.

Work hours: Approximately 19 hours/week. Benefits do not apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior food service experience is a plus.
• On-the-job training is provided.
• Experience with Purdue University Northwest Dining Services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with washing, cutting, and preparing ingredients for meals, salads, and sandwiches.
• Label and date prepped items per food safety requirements.
• Serve food from counters or steam tables and monitor portion control.
• Maintain allergen information and communicate dietary needs to the culinary team.
• Replenish service lines and keep work areas clean and sanitary.
• Wash dishes and follow dishwashing procedures; maintain temperature logs and cleaning checklists.
• Greet customers, take orders, and answer questions in a friendly manner.
• Direct students to meal plan or dietary resources; follow HACCP guidelines.

Key responsibilities include food preparation, counterand steam table service, adherence to food safety and sanitationstandards, and providing friendly, efficient service to students,faculty, and staff. This position is essential to delivering ahigh-quality dining experience that reflects the standards ofDining Services.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assisting with washing, cutting, and preparing ingredients formeals, salads, and sandwiches, following standardized recipes andproduction sheets as directed.
• Labeling and dating prepped items per food safetyrequirements.
• Serving food from counters or steam tables, ensuring properportion control and following dietary restrictions.
• Maintaining awareness of allergen information and communicatingdietary accommodation needs to the culinary team.
• Replenishing service lines as needed.
• Cleaning and sterilizing utensils, equipment, and work areas,including sweeping, mopping, and washing dishes.
• Following dishwashing and ware-washing procedures.
• Maintaining temperature logs and completes daily cleaningchecklists.
• Greeting customers, taking orders, and answering questions in afriendly and professional manner, representing Leo's Dining withcare.
• Directing students with questions about meal plans or dietaryneeds to the appropriate team member.
• Adhering to food safety guidelines (e.g., HACCP).
• Maintaining correct food temperatures, and using properprotective equipment.
• Completing required food handler training andcertification.
• Participating in safety briefings.
• Reporting unsafe conditions to a supervisor.

Education

• High school diploma/GED preferred

Experience

• Prior food service, restaurant, or cafeteria experience is aplus.
• On-the-job training provided.
• Experience with PNW Dining Services is preferred.
