Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation is seeking temporary snowplow drivers and highway maintenance technicians for the Helena area. Duties include snow removal, right-of-way maintenance, guardrail and sign repairs, traffic control, and salt brine production during the winter season. Positions are seasonal with potential for career ladder advancement.

Pay ranges from $29.59 to $30.59 per hour. Applicants must live within 45 road miles of the headquarters and hold a valid MT CDL Class A with tank

Qualifications

• One year experience driving heavy trucks or operating construction equipment.
• Valid Montana CDL Class A with no restrictions, tank endorsement and MEC.
• Applicants with a learner’s permit have 30 days to obtain the MT CDL.

Responsibilities

• Perform snow removal and highway maintenance.
• Clean the right of way and repair guardrail, fences, signs and luminaires.
• Assist with traffic control and salt brine production.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment in winter conditions.
• Be available for emergency weather events and weekend/holiday work.
