Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation seeks a Temp Snowplow Driver/Highway Maintenance Tech in the Helena area to clear snow, operate heavy equipment, and perform routine road maintenance.

The role includes right-of-way cleaning, guardrail and sign repair, luminaires, traffic control, and salt brine production. Seasonal work runs mid‑November to March with possible call‑outs on weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• One year of experience driving heavy trucks or operating construction equipment.
• Valid Montana CDL Class A Type II with tank endorsement and MEC.
• Learner’s permit holders have 30 days to obtain the required license.

Responsibilities

• Snow removal and winter highway maintenance in Helena area.
• Clean the right of way, repair guardrails, fences, signs and luminaires, traffic control and salt brine production.
• Available for emergency weather, weekends and holidays; season typically mid-Nov to March; call-out hours.
