Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, VA is seeking Temp Services Mechanics J1-J4 for day shift (6:00 AM to 2:45 PM). The role involves supervising a small crew, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring adherence to NAVSEA standards in a shipyard environment.

Candidates must be able to access Navy installations with badges, read basic ship drawings, and demonstrate safe operation of tools and equipment. Prior journeyman experience and forklift certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must meet Journeyman Temporary Service Mechanic requirements.
• Must be able to plan, organize and prioritize work.
• Must be able to read basic ship drawings.
• Forklift certificate and ability to move fuel cells safely.
• Access Navy installations by obtaining NAVSEA badges.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a small group of people.
• Plan, organize and prioritize work and solve problems.
• Install and maintain freeze protection and backflow preventers.
• Repair and overhaul temporary fire stations.
• Place connecting temperature water coolers aboard ship for drinking purposes.
