Job Title:Temporary Part-Time Community Research Assistant

Reports To:Community Data Analyst

Pay Rate: $20 / hour for 3-10 hours weekly

Please Note: This position is for up to three-years, and expected to work 3 to 10 hours per week

End Date: Positions are funded through the end of July 2028, and candidates may hold the position for up to three years.

Job Summary:

The Community Research Assistant supports on-location, in-person data collection efforts to expand the Food Bank’s understanding of neighbor experience. This role requires travel to food distribution locations and partner organizations throughout the Food Bank’s 11-county service area. The Community Research Assistant will administer surveys, co-facilitate listening sessions, and provide other support as needed to collect neighbor feedback. This is a part-time position funded by Feeding America with an anticipated commitment of 3 to 10 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate on-location, in-person collection of survey feedback from neighbors participating in food assistance programs throughout the Food Bank’s 11-county service area.
  • Administer feedback collection activities in a way that is respectful to neighbors, accessible, minimizes bias, and aligns with best practices.
  • Support Community Data Analyst and other Programs Department staff to meet established feedback collection goals and objectives.
  • Contribute to design of feedback collection methods including providing input on language and methodology.
  • Collaborate with the Community Data Analyst and partner organizations to facilitate listening sessions, focus groups, and other qualitative data collection activities.
  • Transcribe data from paper-based or other analog sources into digital formats, as needed.
  • Assist with data cleaning, organization, and formatting to support accurate analysis and interpretation.
  • Treat all neighbors with respect and kindness, maintaining dignity while supporting food assistance services.
  • Other data collection support tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Academic background in a field requiring data collection, analysis, and interpretation including but not limited to data science, public health, health science, social Work, or other related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience with survey research preferred.
  • Strong interest in addressing food security and other social determinants of health preferred.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse social and ethnic backgrounds across all age groups from children to senior citizens.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed to accommodate distribution schedules.
  • Have a personal vehicle and valid PA drivers’ license.
  • Able to obtain act 33 & 34 Clearances.
  • Must be able to complete active tasks for long periods of time, including but not limited to navigating food distribution sites for the duration of events and occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
