Job summary

Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center in Findlay, Ohio is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for a temporary, up-to-12-week assignment. You will follow SOPs for specimen handling, registration, accessioning, processing, staining, plating, and labeling across clinical laboratory areas, and support instrument care and QC.

You will work with technologists and other staff, prepare reagents, manage inventory, and maintain accurate data in the LIS, while upholding safety standards and efficient customer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license required (if residing in Ohio).
• Must meet BVHS fleet policy and insurance requirements.
• Experience with computers, telephone operations and equipment maintenance.
• Knowledge of clinical or anatomical laboratory functions and medical terminology.
• Organized, able to prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer-focused, service-oriented communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Registers and processes incoming specimen requisitions with two patient identifiers.
• Prepares reagents, stains, and maintains QC/instrument records.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and assists in ordering as directed.
• Disposes of cultures and chemicals per safety policies.
• Supports culture processing, supervision, and occasional reporting under supervision.
• Keeps accurate documentation in LIS and supports patient order resolution.
• Attends meetings and participates in staff training and safety programs.
• Ensures timely completion of duties with attention to priority and safety.
