Job summary

Firelands Health is seeking a Technical Laboratory Assistant to support clerical and technical tasks in the clinical laboratory, with on-site, full-time responsibilities in Sandusky, OH. The role includes specimen handling, labeling, and basic tests under supervision.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, basic clerical skills, and a willingness to learn; prior hospital lab experience and CPR/BLS are preferred. A 90-day probationary period applies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic clerical skills, such as typing, filing, medical terminology and computer literacy.
• Previous hospital laboratory experience preferred.
• Able to lift objects up to 25 lbs.
• CPR/BLS certification preferred.
• Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.
• Successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform clerical and technical tasks in the clinical laboratory.
• Load specimens on automated line.
• Perform specimen storage and retrieval activities.
• Visual inspection of specimens for quality, including volume and clots.
• Ensure specimens are labeled and logged correctly in the lab information system.
