Job summary

Georgia Institute of Technology is seeking a laboratory support professional to assist in the operation and maintenance of an academic or research laboratory, including analyses, setup and operation of equipment, maintenance and cleaning, and stock management. The role involves regular interaction with faculty, staff and students.

Key duties include setting up and maintaining instruments, ordering supplies, preparing and processing samples, and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or vocational diploma.
• Up to two years of job-related experience.
• Working knowledge of instrumentation and lab equipment; understanding laboratory processes and procedures.
• Experience with inventory management and use of specialized computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Setup, operate and maintain instruments and other equipment used in performing lab tests and experiments.
• Order supplies and materials as required; maintain records.
• Setup laboratory media/equipment for demonstrations.
• May clean instruments, glassware and other lab equipment.
• Prepare and process laboratory samples for use in assigned tests.
• Perform other duties as assigned
