Job summary

British American Household Staffing is seeking a warm, dependable daytime newborn care specialist to care for a newborn in McLean, Virginia, starting early December 2026. This is a temporary 12–16 week assignment with live-in or live-out options, typically 8:00am–4:00pm, five to six days per week.

The ideal candidate has in-home newborn experience, a calm, consistent presence, and strong written communication. Fluency in English is required; Spanish is welcome.

Qualifications

• In-home experience caring for newborns and infants (required)
• Newborn Care Specialist or doula background (strongly preferred)
• Solid understanding of newborn feeding, sleep and development
• Fluent English; Spanish welcome but not required
• Valid driver's license; reliable vehicle preferred for errands if local
• Up-to-date vaccinations (MMR, DTaP, Tdap, Varicella, Hib, flu, COVID-19)
• Comfortable around dogs (family has 3 small dogs)
• Excellent references
• Legal to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Full daytime care for our newborn, including feeding, burping, diapering, bathing, dressing, and soothing
• Bottle preparation and feeding; support feeding routines as directed
• Follow feeding and nap schedule established with overnight caregiver
• Keep a clear written log of feedings, diapers, and naps; provide updates
• Follow safe sleep practices at all times
• Engage with baby through tummy time, gentle play, reading, music, and singing
• Share observations with parents to support early development
• Baby-related household tasks limited to baby's needs (laundry, cleaning/sterilizing bottles, stocking station)
• Keep nursery clean, organized, and restocked
