Job summary

Home Work Staffing seeks an Overnight Newborn Care Specialist in McLean, VA to care for a newborn son starting around December 6, 2026. The role is overnight, 10:00pm–7:00am, with 45 guaranteed hours across 5–7 nights weekly.

Live-in or live-out arrangements are available to fit the family’s needs. Ideal candidates have in-home newborn experience, preferably a Newborn Care Specialist or doula background, and can show 3–5 professional references.

Qualifications

• In-home experience caring for newborns and infants, including overnight care.
• Newborn Care Specialist or doula background strongly preferred.
• Experience setting newborn sleep and feeding schedules.
• Strong understanding of newborn feeding, sleep, and development.
• Punctual, consistent, and alert through every shift.
• Up-to-date vaccinations (MMR, Tdap, Varicella, flu, COVID-19).
• Fluent English; Spanish a plus.
• Able to provide 3–5 professional references.
• Comfortable around dogs and living with household staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide full overnight newborn care, including feeding, burping, diapering, and soothing.
• Prepare bottles and handle overnight feedings following parents' routines.
• Follow safe sleep practices at all times.
• Keep a detailed overnight log of feedings, diapers, and sleep.
• Leave written notes or texts for parents and daytime nanny after each shift.
• Help the baby build a healthy, predictable sleep/feeding schedule.
• Coordinate with daytime nanny to keep the schedule consistent day and night.
• Clean and sterilize bottles and feeding supplies; prepare for next day.
• Handle baby laundry and keep nursery tidy and restocked.
