TemPositions Group is assisting a client in Manhattan, NY to hire an Assistant Cook on a temporary basis. The role follows a pre-existing menu under nutritional guidelines and supports daily kitchen operations from 6am to 2pm, Monday through Friday.

You will assist in food prep, inventory, sanitation, and supervision of kitchen staff under the Head Chef, with responsibilities during absences. Flexibility for evenings and weekends as needed; willingness to work Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Qualifications

• Must possess NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Food Protection Certificate.
• Minimum of two years of experience cooking for large groups (2,000+).
• Experience cooking hot, frozen, and chilled meals.
• CPR and AED/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

Responsabilités

• Assists with food preparation according to a pre-planned menu and food service.
• Assists the Head Chef with daily supervision of kitchen staff and production tasks.
• In the Head Chef's absence, assumes full responsibility for cooking and supervising staff.
• Assists in inventory and proper maintenance of food storage areas with FIFO practices.
• Maintains sanitation and proper operation of all kitchen equipment and surfaces.
• Reports equipment issues to the Head Chef and schedules repairs if needed.
• Prepares, cooks, and supervises portioning and serving of food.
• Participates in menu planning and submitting timely food orders.
• Maintains daily food usage records and monthly inventory of disposables.
