Job summary

OceanFirst Bank is seeking a new Teller at our Vineland branch. You will accurately process transactions for customers with a focus on personalized service, while referring clients to Personal Bankers for specialized needs.

You will balance cash, process deposits and withdrawals, and support branch goals. A two-week training program is provided upon hire to ensure you meet quality standards and security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers warmly and processes requested transactions accurately to ensure minimum teller difference and loss.
• Identifies customer needs to refer to Personal Banker staff and cross-sell bank products/services.
• Balances and proves work daily, posts as required, secures related receipts and records.
• Processes deposits and withdrawals.
• Cashes checks according to policy.
• Processes loan payments and other receivables.
• Issues money orders and bank checks.
• Processes payments to various club accounts.
• Identifies and refers potential Nest clients to the appropriate source.
• Participates in outbound calling and encourages migration to digital channels.
• Processes incoming mail transactions.
• Answers customer inquiries in person or by phone and refers to appropriate area.
• Performs account maintenance for savings and club accounts.
• Maintains records for signature and identification cards and related ledgers.
• Stays current on bank policies including BSA and attends training.

About The Role

Accurately process Bank transactions for banking customers with an emphasis on personalized quality service. Refer current and prospective customers to Personal Bankers for specialized services. Contribute to the growth, profitability, and customer retention of the Branch by meeting sales and service goals and objectives.

What You Will Do

• Greets customers warmly and professionally and processes requested transactions accurately to ensure minimum teller difference and controllable loss performance standards are achieved.
• Identifies customer needs to refer to Personal Banker staff, cross-selling the Bank's products and services on a routine basis to meet and exceed referral goals.
• Balances and proves work daily, posting as required, and properly secures related receipts and records. Includes the work of cash drawers, night deposit, vault, ATM and coin machines.
• Processes deposits and withdrawals.
• Cashes checks in accordance with Bank's policy.
• Processes loan payments and other receivables.
• Issues money orders and bank checks.
• Processes payments to various "club" accounts.
• Identifies and refers potential NEST clients to the appropriate source.
• Participates in outbound calling efforts and is reasonably proficient in migrating customers to the digital channels of the Bank.
• Processes incoming mail transactions.
• Answers customer inquiries, received in person or by telephone concerning account information, or refers customer to appropriate branch or Bank area.
• Performs account maintenance activities for active, inactive, and closed savings accounts and/or club accounts.
• Provides records maintenance for signature cards; identification cards; comparable office records, including selected account ledgers, as applicable.
• Remains current and applies an understanding on all Bank policies and procedures, to include BSA, attending additional training classes as directed.
• Participates in the Branch Incentive Program.
