Purpose: Receive and pay out money and keep records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions.
Work is subject to review and/or audit on a no-notice basis by management, Supervisory Committee, auditors and/or Federal Examiners. The Teller schedule is Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:15pm and Saturday 8:30am - 12:15pm. Pay Range: $16.00 - $18.00 plus Bonus. Equal Employment Opportunity/Veterans/Disabled.
Responsibilities:
- Perform teller duties: receive checks and cash for deposit, verify amounts, examine checks for endorsements, accept loan payments, credit card payments, and process cash advances.
- Present a helpful, cheerful, professional image: when assisting members in person or on the telephone.
- Provide information to members: about Credit Union products such as money orders, teller checks, ATM and VISA cards, and cross-sell these services.
- Provide account information: balances and loan payoff figures.
- Process incoming mail and transfers: via telephone.
- Balance cash drawer daily: maintain Teller Balance Record per Teller Procedure 3.17 “Teller Cash Over/Short.”
- Handle returned checks: collect funds.
- Ensure compliance: understand the Bank Secrecy Act and complete currency transaction reports as needed.
- Follow established standards: in the Credit Union’s Quality Standards and company policies.
- Stay informed: about all services and products, cross-sell when appropriate.
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct: follow dress code, code of ethics, and attendance policies.
- Complete required training: including in-house and external seminars.
- Ensure legal and policy compliance: with Federal and State laws, Credit Union Bylaws, and Policies.
- Travel to other branches: as necessary.
- Perform other duties: as assigned, including assisting in balancing accounts, training new tellers, completing loan verification reports, imaging checks, and ATM replenishments.
Reports To:
This position reports directly to the Head Teller.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills.
- High school education with strong Math and English skills.
- Some accounting knowledge.
- Friendly and personable, able to communicate with all types of people.
- Computer knowledge.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
