Job summary

Gwinnett County is seeking a Civilian Dispatcher to handle non-emergency calls for law enforcement assistance and to maintain daily records and files in a public safety setting.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of experience in a law enforcement environment, with fingerprinting and GCIC/NCIC certification within one year. A pre-employment drug test is required.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties.

  • Assess non-emergency calls, determines necessary action, and dispatches requests as necessary.
  • Maintains daily records and files of all service requests for tracking purposes.
  • Communicates with other departments as needed to request or provide information.
  • Testifies in Court.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

  • Assess non-emergency calls, determines necessary action, and dispatches requests as necessary
  • Maintains daily records and files of all service requests for tracking purposes
  • Communicates with other departments as needed to request or provide information
  • Testifies in Court
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
  • This job requires fingerprinting.
  • This job is a civilian position in a public safety department with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background is required which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories and fingerprinting.
Grade & Salary
  • The grade for this position is B21(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED, AND
  • One year experience in a law enforcement environment
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • Must obtain Basic Terminal Operator of GCIC/NCIC certification within one year.
  • Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
