Job summary

The Alameda Health System is seeking an AHD Unit Secretary for the Alameda Hospital unit. The role provides clerical support, patient record management and effective communication across care teams on the unit.

Open to current Alameda Health System employees only, this per diem, hourly position offers a pay range of $39.36–$42.49 per hour and a comprehensive benefits program. Duties include transcription of orders, chart maintenance, confidentiality and orientation of new staff.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• One year of experience in an acute care or sub-acute setting as a unit secretary/clerk or Certified Nursing Assistant with knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provides clerical services to and facilitates the communication for the hospital unit to which he/she is assigned.
• Prepares and maintains accurate and readable designated unit records.
• Transcribes doctor's orders to Kardex and MAR; completes requisitions and chart forms; faxes orders and enters orders by computer.
• Maintains patient charts and ensures proper disposition of orders; maintains confidentiality.
• Maintains unit desk area and assists in orientation of new personnel.
