Job summary

Monterey Park Hospital is seeking a per diem Unit Secretary for our Med/Surg Unit in Monterey Park, CA. This 10-hour day shift position reports to the Director of Med/Surg.

The role includes transcribing orders, maintaining patient charts, and providing clerical support to nurses and physicians. Some float to other nursing departments may occur. A high school diploma and BLS are preferred/required.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent is preferred for the role.
• One year of unit secretary experience in an acute care hospital is preferred.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Transcribe physician orders accurately and maintain patient charts.
• Provide general clerical support (ordering supplies, filing, copying, maintenance requests).
• Assist nurses and physicians and interact with all unit entrants; may float to other nursing departments.
