The Telemetry Technician performs routine duties within the limits of documented training, skills and competencies. The sole purpose of the Telemetry Technician is to monitor heart rhythm patterns of patients and detect abnormal pattern variances. The Technician routinely reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern, and prior variances.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor heart rhythm patterns and detect abnormal variances
- Review patient information to assess normal, current, and prior heart rhythm patterns
- Identify monitoring problems, troubleshoot causes, and seek solutions
- Respond to potentially life‑threatening rhythm changes and initiate Rapid Response or Code Blue teams as necessary
- Provide continuous ECG monitoring with accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythm, dysrhythmias, and interval measurements
- Appropriately respond to all monitor alarms
Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date
- Telemetry Technician experience preferred
