Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform continuous EKG and telemetry monitoring.
  • Analyze ECG strips and identify life-threatening rhythm changes.
  • Initiate and document cardiac rhythms during emergency events.
  • Perform electrocardiograms in various clinical settings.
  • Troubleshoot telemetry and monitoring equipment issues.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
  • Enter and verify physician orders within the electronic system.
  • Retrieve laboratory results and escalate critical values.
  • Maintain accurate documentation per organizational standards.
  • Safely operate monitoring and medical equipment.

Job description

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Telemetry Technician to provide continuous cardiac monitoring and advanced ECG interpretation in a fast-paced clinical environment. The Telemetry Technician will analyze ECG strips, recognize and respond to life-threatening rhythm changes, initiate and support code responses, and ensure accurate documentation of cardiac rhythms. This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and effective communication with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform continuous EKG and telemetry monitoring with accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias
  • Analyze ECG strips and promptly identify potentially life-threatening rhythm changes
  • Initiate and document cardiac rhythms during codes and emergency events
  • Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) in various clinical settings, ensuring proper electrode placement
  • Troubleshoot telemetry and monitoring equipment issues and respond appropriately to monitor alarms
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with charge nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Enter and verify physician orders within the electronic system
  • Retrieve laboratory results and escalate critical values to the charge nurse
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with organizational policies and standards
  • Safely operate and manage monitoring and medical equipment
Schedule
  • 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Floating: Required based on unit needs

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross), valid within one (1) year
  • Completion of a Dysrhythmia Course
