Job summary

Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, WY is seeking a team member to monitor real-time rhythm data and interpret arrhythmias for multiple patients. You will communicate critical changes to nurses and maintain patient status in the EHR, while supporting the health care team and performing clerical duties as needed.

The role emphasizes excellent customer service, confidentiality, and the ability to learn new software. A high school diploma and BLS are required with 60 days to obtain credentials.

Responsibilities

• Continuous monitoring of real-time heart rhythms and waveforms for multiple patients.
• Arrhythmia interpretation and identification of dangerous conditions.
• Clinical communication to notify nurses of critical changes.
• Document rhythm strips and patient status in electronic health records.
• Coordinate with health care team to provide patient care and services.
• Answer telephone/intercom politely and relay information to appropriate personnel.
• Assist in unit clerical duties and other assigned tasks.

Education

BLS certification (current or within 60 days)

Basic arrhythmia recognition / EKG interpretation within 60 days

• Continuous Monitoring of real- time heart rhythms and waveforms for multiple patients at the same time.
• Arrhythmia Interpretation: Identify normal rhythms, dangerous arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats), false alarms, and equipment artifact.
• Clinical Communication: Immediately notify nurses of critical rate or rhythm changes (such as ventricular tachycardia or bradycardia)
• Documentation of rhythm strips, PR intervals, QRS durations, and patient status updates into electronic health records
• Coordinates with health care team to provide patient care, treatment and services.
• Answer telephone/intercom in a polite manner and communicates information to the appropriate personnel/family
• Assists in clerical duties on the unit.
• Other duties as assigned.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

E X P E R I E N C E

• Previous customer service experience preferred.

C R E D E N T I A L S

• High school diploma or GED
• Must have current, valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 60 days of hire and must maintain credential throughout employment with IMH.
• Completion of basic arrhythmia recognition course, EKG interpretation class within 60 days of hire and must maintain credential throughout employment with IMH
• Excellent customer service skills, including but not limited to: a friendly personality, tact, patience, empathy and a helpful, professional attitude both in person and on the telephone.
• Ability to effectively communicate with staff, managers and the general public verbally and in writing.
• Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to establish priorities effectively.
• Possess exceptional problem solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively without immediate supervision.
• Ability to learn new computer software programs.
• Ability to recognize and protect confidential information.
• Demonstrate ethical and legal accountability for the position.
