Children's of Alabama in Birmingham's Main Campus CVICU is seeking a Part-time Telemetry Tech for night shifts (7p-7a, PRN). The role provides continuous patient monitoring at the central telemetry station, identifying life-threatening rhythms and communicating promptly to nurses and physicians.
Responsibilities include connecting patients to the monitor system and assisting during emergencies, and documenting all rhythms and heart rate changes in the electronic medical record.
Work schedule will be Part-time Benefits Ineligible on the Night Shift, PRN, 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts, varying days/weekends.
Summary:
Under general supervision, performs cardiac monitoring duties for patients connected to the central telemetry monitoring system. This position provides continuous patient monitoring at the central monitoring station (CMS). Recognizes all life-threatening patterns and arrhythmias and reports these to nurse and or physician in an accurate and timely manner. Correctly connects patients to monitor system and assists in emergency and life-threatening situations. Documents all rhythms and heart rate changes in the electronic medical record.
The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit is a 20-bed unit with 4 dedicated ECMO suites. The CVICU provides state of the art care for neonatal and pediatric patients with acquired or congenital heart disease that require intensive care management or close monitoring for conditions such as: co-morbidities of congenital or acquired heart disease; pre and/or post-operative cardiac surgery patients; dysrhythmias; cardiomyopathy; pre and post-operative care of cardiac transplants; and patients requiring Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) or Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO).
