Job summary

UNC Health Caldwell Telemetry, located in Lenoir, NC, seeks a Nursing Assistant I to support the telemetry unit and assist in patient care, transport, and clerical duties on a per diem basis. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy.
• Listed as Nursing Assistant I by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Fluent in English with ability to develop computer skills

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, and procures equipment and supplies.
• Critically reviews patient care documentation and reports significant changes to a nurse or physician.
• Performs clerical tasks: organize workload, greet visitors, review orders for clarity, transcribe orders, maintain medical records, and perform PI audits and data entry.
• Provide clinical support: clean work areas, troubleshoot equipment, manage supplies, transport patients and specimens, and orient new staff and students.
• Provide direct personal care per care plans, including vital signs, measurements, and basic patient assistance.
• Reinforce patient education and distribute educational materials.
