Job summary

Tenet Healthcare in Michigan is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) to support the telemetry unit. The role focuses on assisting patients with daily activities, reporting changes to the nurse, and contributing to a compassionate patient experience.

The PCA works under a registered nurse and participates in continuous learning, safety, and quality initiatives, while performing routine tasks and coordinating with the care team to maintain high standards of care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduation from practical nursing school or equivalent training.
• Completion of PCA/PCT program, CNA program, Medical Assistant program, EMT program, or phlebotomy training with 6 months patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with care team to ensure quality of care and mission values.
• Performs basic patient care under RN direction and reports changes in patient condition.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (feeding, bathing, toileting).
• Adheres to departmental policies, safety, and infection control standards.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality and answers questions from patients and families.
• Performs clerical duties as needed (phones, check-ins).
• Engages in ongoing education to maintain competencies.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
