Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL is seeking a Patient Care Technician-Telemetry for 1st shift, full-time (36 hrs/wk, 0.9 FTE). The role supports nursing staff by performing basic patient care, vital signs, and daily living activities on a telemetry unit.

The position requires a HS diploma, CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with clinical completed, and BLS. Phlebotomy experience and related nursing assistant credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA / CMA / EMT or nursing student with one semester completed required.
• American Heart Association BLS required.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant program or Phlebotomy course preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and glucose measurements.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility and multi-tasking under stress.
• Prioritizes unit work and adapts to changing needs.
• Serves as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers calls, intercom, and communication with staff/family/patient.
• Manages overall unit workflow with charge RN or assistant manager as needed.
• Performs pre-census and validates daily admission, discharge and census lists.
