Job summary

Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, VA is hiring a part-time Monitor Technician to observe, interpret, and document EKG tracings on telemetry patients and detect deviations from normal.

Two 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays; requires high school diploma and completion of a monitor technician surveillance program (or 1 year recent experience). Orientation includes the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency exam.

Qualifications

• Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required upon hire.
• If not completed, certificate program must be completed within 90 days of hire.
• 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within last 5 years accepted in substitute of a program.
• Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool must be completed after orientation.
• Basic understanding of cardiac monitoring or EKG is strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Observe, interpret, evaluate, and document EKG tracings on telemetry‑monitored patients.
• Detect deviations from patient’s norm and respond appropriately.
• Maintain competency and orientation requirements as part of the role.
