Job summary

Sentara Health in Suffolk, VA seeks a Monitor Technician to observe and document EKG tracings on telemetry patients. You will promptly notify staff of arrhythmias and operate the monitoring system to ensure safety and accuracy during the third shift.

A completion of a monitor technician surveillance program is required on hire or within 90 days; equivalencies may apply with prior surveillance experience. Sentara offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required upon hire.
• Candidates who have not completed a monitor technician surveillance program must complete a certificate program within 90 days of hire.
• Or 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years will be accepted in substitute of a monitor tech surveillance program/course.

Responsibilities

• Observe, recognizes, interprets, evaluates, and documents EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients.
• Detect deviations from patient’s norm and notify appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias.
• Operate and utilize monitoring system to full capacity and ensure proper and safe functioning of telemetry equipment.
