Job summary

Sentara Health in Hampton, VA is seeking a Monitor Technician (Telemetry) for the third (night) shift. The role involves observing and interpreting EKG tracings, documenting findings, and promptly reporting dysrhythmias to the care team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course is required upon hire.
• If not completed, a certificate program must be completed within 90 days of hire.
• One year of monitor technician surveillance experience within the last 5 years will be accepted in place of the surveillance program/course.
• Must successfully complete the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool prior to release from new employee orientation.

Responsibilities

• Observes, recognizes, interprets, evaluates, and documents EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients to detect deviations from the patient's norm.
• Notifies appropriate personnel promptly of dysrhythmias.
• Operates and utilizes the monitoring system to full capacity.
• Ensures proper and safe functioning of telemetry equipment.
