Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking a Monitor Technician to oversee initiation, surveillance and discontinuation of electrocardiographic monitoring on nights. Under general supervision, you will monitor telemetry, respond to dysrhythmias and document data.

PRN position with cross-training opportunities, requires HS diploma, CPR/BLS, strong communication, and ability to read ECG rhythms. Previous monitoring experience preferred; bilingual communication helpful; duties include helping with unit

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must have current CPR or BLS competency training.
• Employee will be required to pass competencies for this position.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English required.
• Ability to communicate clearly with nurses, administration and physicians.
• Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
• Willingness to be crossed trained to other areas.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values to others.
• Initiates ECG monitoring when a physician's order is received and validated.
• Maintains continuous surveillance of EKG wave forms and notifies nursing staff for dysrhythmias.
• Discontinues telemetry when ordered.
• Performs unit support duties: answering calls, responding to patient/family requests, maintaining an orderly environment.
• Uses ECG monitoring knowledge for continuous surveillance and rhythm interpretation.
• Enters required telemetry data into the computer system.
• Monitors equipment and reports issues to supervision.
• Assists with orientation of new employees.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

CPR or BLS certification

Competency testing/pass competencies

Written and verbal communication

English language proficiency

Clear communication with nurses and physicians
