Job summary

White Oak Medical Center is seeking an experienced Monitor Technician for our Central Telemetry Unit. You will document rhythms, obtain strips, and maintain the Monitoring Console while supporting multidisciplinary quality improvement teams.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS, and 1 year of relevant clinical experience; completion of the Monitor Technician program within 6 months of hire is expected. Schedule is 36 hours weekly with days and weekend rotations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of emergency/acute clinical experience or equivalent.
• Completion of Monitor Technician Program within 6 months of hire.
• Active BLS certification required by American Heart Association.
• Dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Document rhythm on EKG flow sheet and report changes to nurse.
• Obtain strips on irregularities and monitor strips at shift start.
• Maintain charge requisitions on monitored patients and notify nurses for electrode changes.
• Keep Monitoring Console and paper loaders in ready condition; monitor assigned telemetry.
• Provide verbal reports to relief staff and patient reports to incoming technicians.
• Verify and adjust alarm limits per patient; ensure alarms are active at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
