Job summary

Adventist HealthCare's White Oak Medical Center seeks an experienced Monitor Technician for the Heart and Vascular Unit to document rhythms on the EKG flow sheet, report changes to the nurse, obtain strips and monitor patient telemetry. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of emergency rhythm experience, and completion of the Monitor Technician Program within 6 months, plus BLS certification.

The schedule is full-time, three 12-hour night shifts.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1-year experience with emergency situations and maintaining continuous strips of cardiac rhythms
  • Completion of the Monitor Technician Program within 6 months of hire
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Responsibilities

  • Document rhythm on EKG flow sheet and report changes to the nurse
  • Obtain strips on irregularities and monitor assigned telemetry console
  • Maintain charge requisitions on monitored patients and ensure electrodes are connected
  • Verify and adjust alarm limits for patients and ensure alarms are on at all times
  • Provide verbal reports to relief personnel and patient reports to incoming technicians
  • Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams

Monitor Technician Program completion within 6 months
BLS certification (American Heart Association)
