Job summary

UF Health North in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Monitor/EMU Tech to continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and EKG rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and promptly notify the RN of any changes.

Responsibilities include producing and maintaining telemetry rhythm strips, inventorying and maintaining monitoring equipment, and observing EMU patients for seizure activity with accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• GED or High School Diploma required.
• Preferred: PCA, Medic Corpsman, or nursing student with first clinical rotation.
• Must complete an EKG/Dysrhythmia course within 90 days of hire.
• Must complete unit-based courses related to specialized area within 6 months.
• Less than one year of related experience required.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and EKG rhythms for assigned patients.
• Recognize and identify cardiac dysrhythmias and other rhythm changes.
• Notify the RN immediately of pertinent changes in heart rate or rhythm.
• Produce and maintain telemetry rhythm strips for documentation.
• Inventory, troubleshoot, and maintain telemetry monitoring equipment.
• Observe EMU patients for seizure activity and document findings.
• Notify RN of seizure activity or significant events.
• Maintain EMU equipment in patient rooms and ensure systems operate correctly.
• Support continuous patient monitoring with accurate documentation.
