Job summary

Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA is seeking a Monitor Technician to observe, interpret, and document EKG tracings for telemetry patients during the third (night) shift. The role requires completing a monitor technician surveillance program or an equivalent experience, with Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency to be completed after orientation.

Responsibilities include recognizing dysrhythmias, notifying staff promptly, and ensuring safe operation of monitoring equipment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required upon hire.
• Certificate program within 90 days if not completed at hire.
• 1 year of monitor technician surveillance experience within last 5 years accepted as substitute.

Responsibilities

• Observes, interprets, and documents EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients.
• Detects deviations from patient norms and promptly notifies appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias.
• Operates monitoring system to full capacity and ensures proper functioning of telemetry equipment.
