Job summary

Ochsner LSU Health seeks a Nursing Assistant to assist with basic patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. You will observe patients, notify nursing staff of changes, and participate in maintaining safety and cleanliness in the patient care area.

Responsibilities include documenting tasks, communicating patient needs to families and staff, and adapting care to diverse patient populations while adhering to policies and procedures. 30-day credentialing support is noted.

Qualifications

• Preferred - High School diploma or equivalent.
• Required - CNA certification with BLS and CPI to be obtained within 30 days from hire.

Responsibilities

• Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members.
• Completes documentation of patient related tasks.
• Adapts communication and care to patient population; respects privacy and obtains permissions as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
