Job summary

Ochsner LSU Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You will assist with basic care, monitor for changes in patient status, and communicate with patients and families.

Requirements include CNA certification, BLS and CPI within 30 days of hire. Preferred candidates may have hospital/telemetry experience and a HS diploma or equivalent. Expect a demanding, team-oriented environment with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• CNA certification is required; BLS and CPI must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Preferred hospital and telemetry experience.

Responsibilities

• Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
• Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multi-disciplinary teams.
• Completes documentation of patient related tasks.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including privacy and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
