Job summary

Ochsner Health in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to support patient care under RN supervision. You will assist with basic nursing tasks, maintain a safe environment, and document patient information while communicating clearly with patients and families.

The position requires a current Louisiana CNA, BLS within 30 days, CPI within 30 days, and a flexible schedule to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• Preferred - High School diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred - Hospital and telemetry experience.
• Current Louisiana Certification as a Nurses’ Assistant (CNA) is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 30 days from hire.
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) to be obtained within 30 days from hire.

Responsibilities

• Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
• Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multi-disciplinary teams.
• Completes documentation of patient related tasks.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
