Job summary

Valley Health is seeking a Cardiac Monitor Technician for Telemetry Monitoring on a per diem basis. You will watch heart rates, interpret rhythms, and report changes to nursing staff using telemetry equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma with specialized training in telemetry during orientation; CPR is preferred. Responsibilities include maintaining monitor accuracy, documenting treatments, and assisting in training staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Specialized telemetry equipment training within orientation period.
• Experience in basic arrhythmia recognition preferred.
• CPR Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret the cardiac rhythms of patients being monitored on telemetry.
• Assure all patients have their names entered into the monitor.
• Observe telemetry screen continuously and stay on duty until relieved.
• Document anti-arrhythmia medications on the screen and logbook.
• Maintain electrode, leads and batteries to keep a clear rhythm.
• Trend, edit and archive every four hours and post rhythm strips.
• Notify nursing staff of rhythm changes promptly.
• Check alarm settings at the start of each shift.
• Explain telemetry equipment to patients and family; stay calm and professional.
• Assist in training others in telemetry use and rhythm interpretation.
• Notify appropriate department of equipment failure.
• Troubleshoot telemetry components as needed.
