Campbell University is seeking a Telecommunicator to manage campus safety communications, receive and dispatch requests for service, and monitor alarms 24/7. The role requires calm, accurate decision-making and the ability to work a rotating schedule, including holidays.

Position Summary:
The Telecommunicator is responsible for the operation of communications equipment and demonstrates a number of traits, concern, courtesy, patience, respect, multi-task oriented, and exceptional listening and verbal skills.The Telecommunicator is responsible for handling emergency and non-emergency requests for service and dispatching the appropriate response to handle the request from the public on a 24-hour, 7-day a week basis.The Telecommunicator is also responsible for communication functions to include but not limited to receiving calls or dispatching emergency and law enforcement services.
Must be willing to attend training classes, complete on the job training requirements,and continue training after employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Participates in operations of a two-way radio and telephone to receive and transmit messages for Campus Safety, Harnett County, Municipal Police Department, Volunteer and Municipal Fire Department, Highway Patrol, Department of Transportation, Magistrate Office, County Emergency Management Department, Animal Control, Wildlife Services, Rescue Squad, Ambulance Service, Physical Plant, Athletics, and Social Services.
Receive request for service by telephone, radio, or in person; obtain necessary information and dispatch the necessary officials and/or advise caller of proper contact for assistance or information.
Monitor Intrusion and Fire Alarm computer for dorms, buildings, wells, and lift stations on campus. Notify proper officials should an alarm activate.
Monitor emergency phones located on campus.
Greeting visitors and guests to the campus, give directions, and information and assist them in any way requested.
Issues temporary and visitor parking passes.
Assist Officers’ field efforts by accessing computerized information.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous responsibilities in oftentimes stressful situations.
Ability and willingness to work a wide variety of shifts including late night/morning hours and weekends.
Responsible for entering calls regarding calls for service into Police Pak call log, keeping daily logs, monitoring Pharmacy camera, fluent in Police Pak, Ticket Trak, Colleague, and 911 Database.
Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to; HIPAA, FERPA and other state and federal mandates.

Education/Experience:
High School Diploma/GED. Must be able to complete basic telecommunicator certification training and possess a certification emergency CPR/AED. There is ongoing internal training.
Some related communications, dispatching or reception work experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Drug test and physical required.
Must beat least 21 years of age.
Must possess a valid NC driver’s license.
Must pass a criminal background check.
