Job summary

M.C. Dean in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Telecommunications Technician 2 to install and test commercial communications systems according to plans and codes. You will work with Cat5e/6, fiber, patch panels and containment, while mentoring apprentices on a busy site.

A strong focus on safety, quality, and schedule is expected as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Qualifications include 4+ years in commercial telecom or 2+ years with an Associate degree, valid driver's license, and knowledge of

Qualifications

• 4+ years prior experience in commercial communications industry with a high school diploma or GED or 2+ years of experience with an Associate degree.
• Must have a valid driver's license to operate equipment.
• Prior experience including room build-out, Cat6, Cat6A and fiber optic termination.
• Familiarity with BlueBeam, Fluke Versiv, MS Office, Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of BICSI guidelines for install and termination procedures.

Responsibilities

• Installation of video and data cable with Cat 5E, Cat 6 and fiber.
• Terminate and test horizontal copper (Cat 5/6) and fiber.
• Terminate riser and backbone cables; install patch panels.
• Read and interpret plans and specifications; install cable trays and conduits.
• Mentor apprentices and assist in OSP installations.
• Maintain clean work area and participate in job site safety.
• Assist with grounding, bonding, and testing of telecom cabling installations.
