Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Telecommunications Technician 2 to plan, install, and test commercial cabling and communications systems for Embassy Suites by Hilton Charleston Airport. The role covers Cat5e/6, fiber, patch panels, racks, and grounding, with leadership to apprentices.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in commercial telecoms, familiarity with BlueBeam and Fluke Versiv, and a strong safety mindset. A valid driver’s license is required and security clearance eligibility is a plus.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in commercial communications with a high school diploma or GED or 3+ years with an Associate degree.
• Valid driver's license to operate equipment.
• Experience with Cat6, fiber termination, and reading drawings.
• Familiarity with BlueBeam, Fluke Versiv, MS Office, Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of BICSI guidelines; willingness for security screening.

Responsibilities

• Install and test video and data cables (Cat5e/6) and fiber.
• Terminate copper and fiber; install patch panels and racks.
• Read and interpret plans and specifications; read wiring diagrams.
• Mentor apprentices and assist in outside plant installations.
• Ensure safety, workmanship and timely task completion.
