Placements24 is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician to join our team in Welkom. The role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunications systems including voice, data, and video networks on-site to ensure reliable client connectivity.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on networking experience, proficiency with cables and diagnostic tools, and a willingness to travel within the region.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Telecommunications Technician or similar role.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP and VLANs.
• Proficiency installing and terminating Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cables.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and test equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills; able to work independently or in a team.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the region.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment and cabling.
• Diagnostics and repairs on network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and servers.
• Troubleshoot voice and data systems and resolve issues.
• Maintain records of installations and network configurations.
• Collaborate with technical teams to ensure system functionality.
• Respond to service calls and perform on-site repairs, with possible field/office hybrid schedule.
