Job summary

NV Energy is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer to design and troubleshoot advanced networking systems in Las Vegas. The role includes provisioning, programming of telecommunications equipment, and drafting specifications for projects.

You will lead major projects, coordinate with various teams, and ensure compliance with company policies. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in a related field with 5+ years of telecom experience and strong CAD/documentation skills, plus excellent

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronics engineering, computer science, information technology or related field; 5+ years telecom or networking experience.
If no bachelor’s, a minimum of 9 years of telecom or networking experience.
Experience documenting system designs with CAD or equivalent software.
Knowledge of circuit design/traffic engineering, TDM/SONET, packet-based Ethernet, microwave and radio communications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders.
Proficiency with PCs, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

Responsibilities

Designs major networking or communications systems and creates networking diagrams for expansion and upgrades.
Serves as consultant to business units for networking needs; acts as project manager for major projects; documents projects and writes equipment specifications.
Designs and tests new telecom and network systems; makes budget recommendations for construction and future needs.
Leads capacity planning to manage technology changes and growth; provides technical leadership to staff.
