Blue Ridge Energy is seeking a Telecommunications Network Technician to join our Communications Technology team. The role involves hands-on work installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fiber-optic and RF networks that power essential community communications.

You will read schematics, document work for compliance, coordinate with contractors, and deliver excellent customer service. A strong safety mindset and 3+ years of fiber experience are required, with a valid driver's license and NC

Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred in electronics or telecom.
  • 3+ years of fiber optic installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Experience reading blueprints and schematics.
  • Familiarity with GIS/CAD tools is a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Willingness to obtain NC Notary Public commission.

Responsibilities

  • Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber-optic and RF networks (OSP, ISP, commercial, residential).
  • Diagnose and resolve network issues to ensure optimal performance.
  • Read blueprints and schematics for efficient project execution.
  • Document all work to support compliance and future planning.
  • Manage materials and recommend system upgrades.
  • Coordinate with contractors, utilities, and regulatory agencies.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and provide technical support and training.
  • Follow safety standards and industry best practices.

At Blue Ridge Energy, we're looking for a skilled Telecommunications Network Technician to join our Communications Technology team. In this role, you'll be hands-on with cutting-edge fiber-optic and RF networks-installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the systems that power critical communications for our members and customers.

What You'll Do

You'll play a key role in keeping our network strong, reliable, and growing. Your day-to-day may include:

  • Installing, splicing, terminating, and testing fiber-optic and RF networks (OSP, ISP, commercial, and residential)
  • Diagnosing and resolving network issues to ensure optimal performance
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics for efficient project execution
  • Documenting all work to support compliance and future planning
  • Managing materials and recommending system upgrades
  • Coordinating with contractors, utilities, and regulatory agencies
  • Delivering excellent customer service, including technical support and training
  • Following all safety standards and industry best practices
What You Bring

We're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with a strong commitment to safety and service:

  • Associate degree in electronics, telecommunications, or related field (preferred)
    (Relevant experience or training may substitute)
  • 3+ years of experience in fiber optic installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of fiber splicing, testing, and network systems
  • Familiarity with GIS, CAD, or mapping tools (a plus)
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments-indoors, outdoors, and at heights
  • Valid driver's license with safe driving record
    (Class B CDL or willingness to obtain is a plus)
  • Willingness to obtain a North Carolina Notary Public commission

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
    (Occasional evenings/weekends as needed)
