Title: Telecommunications Network Engineer - Senior

Security Clearance: Top Secret

Job Location: On-Site - Columbus, OH

Overview:

Nationwide IT Services, NIS, is seeking a Senior Telecommunications Network Engineer for a potential opportunity supporting wired and wireless LAN functions. The role involves telecom engineering and operational support for current and new technologies related to the Local Area Network (LAN). Responsibilities include network upgrade design, implementation, support, sustainment, management, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Identify high-level and detailed design requirements for the enterprise network backbone, including server locations, user locations, and traffic flows.
2. Design, implement, and sustain solutions for network upgrades, including testing, redundancy, and capacity planning.
3. Develop and monitor failover and network fault detection solutions.
4. Support networking monitoring tools and maintain comprehensive network documentation.
5. Implement configuration management and install, configure, and maintain networking hardware and software.
6. Troubleshoot and resolve LAN issues, perform problem diagnosis, and analyze network data.

Required Qualifications:

• BS in electrical, electronics, or systems engineering with at least one year of experience, or an associate degree with at least eight years of experience, including four related to telecommunications.
• 7 years of network operations experience; higher education or military service can substitute for 2 years.
• Top Secret clearance.
• Certifications: CWNA, DoD 8570 Category IAT-II, and one of BPIPA, CCDA, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCSPA, or SCNA.

Experience:

• Design and management of telecommunications networks, including voice, data, video, and wireless services.
• Independent work on moderately complex requirements, analysis, and implementation.
• Coordination with other IT professionals and development of system requirements and network specifications.
• Experience managing evaluation and cost estimation of WAN services and designing access/backbone networks.
• Providing technical and administrative direction, reviewing work products, and making approval recommendations.
