Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Manager to oversee enterprise telecommunications services while helping drive the organization's transition from legacy voice systems to modern SIP and cloud-based communications platforms. This individual will provide both technical and operational leadership, managing telecommunications infrastructure, voice technologies, vendors, budgets, and a small team of telecom professionals. The ideal candidate brings a blend of hands-on telecommunications expertise, leadership experience, and a proven track record supporting modernization initiatives in large enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities
Telecommunications Strategy & Architecture
  • Manage and optimize enterprise telephony infrastructure and communication technologies.
  • Develop and execute strategic roadmaps for telecommunications modernization.
  • Lead migration initiatives from legacy voice systems to SIP-based and cloud communications platforms.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions that improve reliability, scalability, security, and user experience.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to align telecommunications capabilities with organizational objectives.
Voice Infrastructure & Operations
  • Oversee administration, maintenance, and support of enterprise telephony systems.
  • Manage carrier services, voice circuits, call routing, and communications platforms.
  • Lead telecommunications projects including upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Ensure communications systems maintain high availability and business continuity.
  • Troubleshoot complex telecommunications and voice infrastructure issues.
Unified Communications & Collaboration
  • Support integrations between telephony systems and collaboration platforms.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing cloud-based communications and UCaaS solutions.
  • Support Microsoft Teams Voice and related communications technologies.
  • Contribute to future cloud telephony initiatives and modernization efforts.
  • Manage telecommunications vendors and service providers.
  • Review, audit, and validate telecom invoices and services.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and vendor management activities.
  • Monitor telecommunications spending and identify cost optimization opportunities.
  • Ensure service providers meet performance expectations and service-level commitments.
  • Lead and mentor a telecommunications support team.
  • Establish priorities and ensure successful project execution.
  • Provide coaching, technical guidance, and professional development.
  • Foster a customer-focused service culture.
Compliance & Documentation
  • Maintain telecommunications architecture documentation and operational procedures.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Ensure systems align with security and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain standards, processes, and technical documentation.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise telecommunications environments.
  • Previous leadership or team management experience.
  • Strong experience supporting enterprise telephony platforms.
  • Deep understanding of:
    • SIP
    • PRI
    • VoIP
    • Session Border Controllers (SBCs)
    • Unified Communications technologies
  • Experience leading telecommunications migration and modernization projects.
  • Experience with telecom billing, carrier management, and vendor relationships.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience migrating from PRI to SIP technologies.
  • Experience with H.323 to SIP migrations.
  • Experience implementing or supporting cloud-based telephony and UCaaS platforms.
  • Experience with:

  • Experience in professional services, healthcare, legal, financial services, or other enterprise environments.
