Placements24 is seeking a Telecommunications Installation and Repair Technician to join our field team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will install, configure, and repair telecom equipment, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and ensure high-quality service for residential and business customers.

The role requires hands-on work, strong knowledge of network cabling, fiber and copper cabling, and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Telecommunications Technician or similar role.
• Strong TCP/IP and LAN/WAN knowledge.
• Experience with fiber optic and copper cabling.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a field environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including modems, routers, switches, and fiber optic terminations.
• Troubleshoot and repair network issues, including internet outages, slow speeds, and voice service problems.
• Perform diagnostic tests on network lines and equipment to identify faults.
• Run and terminate network cables (e.g., Ethernet, Coaxial, Fiber Optic).
• Educate customers on service usage and basic troubleshooting techniques.
• Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and service visits.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and company guidelines.
• Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through efficient and effective service delivery.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Telecommunications Technician, Network Installer, or similar role.

• Proficiency with telecommunications installation tools and testing equipment.
• Experience with fiber optic and copper cabling installation and termination.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing network and equipment issues.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field environment.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, crawl in tight spaces, and lift equipment.
• Knowledge of the Queenstown, Eastern Cape, ZA area is an advantage.
