Our client in Welkom seeks an experienced Senior Telecommunications Field Technician to install, maintain, and repair telecoms equipment and infrastructure across the region. The role requires hands-on expertise in fibre optics, DSL/FTTx, copper cabling, and network hardware.

The ideal candidate will perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and on-site support, while ensuring safety and excellent customer service. Travel within Welkom and surrounding areas is expected.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or equivalent in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Field Technician in the telecommunications industry.
• Proficiency in fibre optic splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with copper cabling, network hardware installation, and configuration.
• Familiarity with DSL, FTTx, and wireless communication technologies.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications principles and practices.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle physical tasks.
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
• Willingness to travel within the Welkom and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications systems, including fibre optic cables, network equipment, and customer premises equipment (CPE).
• Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshoot technical issues to identify root causes.
