Job summary

Henderson Engineers is seeking a Telecommunications Designer in Houston to design and coordinate telecom systems for commercial, healthcare, and education projects. You’ll prepare floor plans, cabling layouts, and room layouts while ensuring compliance with TIA and NEC standards.

Travel up to 15% is required and you’ll collaborate with architects, engineers, and technology consultants. You will develop constructions documents, support design reviews, and mentor junior staff as needed, while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field related to design.
• Experience preparing construction documents for building telecommunications systems.
• Knowledge of TIA standards and NEC requirements for telecom infrastructure.
• Proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
• Ability to coordinate with architectural and MEP disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare telecommunications design documents including floor plans and room layouts.
• Design structured cabling infrastructure in accordance with standards.
• Coordinate telecom systems with architectural and MEP disciplines across all design phases.
• Assist with pathway sizing, room space planning, and equipment layouts.
• Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and QC processes.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and field conditions for conformance to project requirements.
• Conduct site visits and support project delivery under senior guidance.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and technology consultants.
• Support project schedules and budgets, and deliver design outputs.
• Develop proficiency in industry tools and travel up to 15%.
